The General Cemetery of All Souls: Kensal Green

Incorporated in 1832, this is the oldest of the Magnificient Seven still in operation. It's also massive, a whopping 72 acres of West London is given over to this Victorian garden cemetery. They run a two hour tour on Sundays, and it will take the full two hours to start to appreciate this place. There is a huge variety of monuments, from small unique headstones scattered in what looks for all the world like a country field to the grandeur of the Grade I Anglican Chapel at the centre. Some of the family tombs look more like small temples.

There are no less than 140 listed buildings and monuments to be found here including the Grade II* Listed Mary Eleanor Gibson monument, probably the one people most remember from their visit due to the crumbling glory of the spectacular quartet of angels adorning it.

You name it, this cemetery has it. From mock Egyptian to dark gothic angels, with a scattering of modern artistic pieces somewhere in between. There are too many to list, and I could put up a dozen pictures and not even have touched upon how beautiful this place is. I'd highly recommend a visit.
